License and insurance check

Contraxis is operated by Apixis Dev LLC, Houston, TX.

Homeowners are free.

Contractors choose Pro at $99 per month or Business at $399 per month, by card or with Ixis. 100 Ixis = $1.

There is no commission on a job.

This page says what the contractor license and insurance check covers today. It does not promise a check the product does not run.

What an applicant submits

On the trade application, a contractor may type a license number. That field is optional, and the text is stored as typed, up to 80 characters. The form does not check the number with a license board. The applicant may also check a box that they can provide proof of active liability insurance. The box is not required to submit. Contraxis stores the yes or no. The form does not upload a license or an insurance certificate.

What review does

The application is saved as pending vetting. An admin sees it in the review queue: the license number that was typed, or “No license listed”, and “Insured” or “Insurance not listed” from the checkbox. Approving records the admin’s decision. The button reads “Approve — license & insurance verified”. The server does not contact a license board, an insurer, or any other outside source. Rejecting leaves the application hidden from homeowners.

What approval changes

If a contractor account already exists for that email, approval copies the typed license number and the insurance checkbox onto the account and marks the account verified. If no account exists yet, approval only updates the application. When the signup database function later creates a contractor for an email that already has an approved application, it copies those same fields and marks the account verified because the application was approved. That copy is not a new check. The profile helper that creates a contractor row when no profile exists yet does not itself read the license number or the insurance checkbox.

Who can see a contractor

Homeowners are not shown pending applications. Job matching and lead distribution include only contractor accounts that are marked verified and are not deleted. An account that is not marked verified does not receive those jobs, and accepting a match is refused until the account is marked verified. “Verified” here means an admin approved the application, or the signup function copied an already approved application. It does not mean a license or a policy was confirmed with the issuer.

A separate application

The professional application is a different form. Its review screen says approval allows service offers and is not a license, identity, or insurance certification.
